Main Responsibilities:
Here at United, the Red Team Lead Analyst helps improve detection capabilities, strengthen defenses, and improve response strategies to continually improve United’s cybersecurity posture. The Principal Analyst is responsible for designing and executing Red Team Engagements, Attack Surface Reduction Engagements, and Penetration Tests while building and maintaining the Red Team’s core infrastructure. The Principal Analyst is expected to generate and present engagement results with a root cause focus, including mitigation and detection recommendations, application owner advice, and system remediation actions. Red Team lead analysts also have the unique role of directly assisting United’s Vulnerability Disclosure Program. Ability to work unsupervised in a large business environment is required. Develop and execute Red Team engagements using best practices, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) in an effort to gain access to critical business data to demonstrate real-world risks posed by Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs).
- Research and develop new TTPs for use in engagements to help increase detection capabilities. Lead and conduct vulnerability research to help United identify risks and provide strategic and tactical recommendations.
- Lead and conduct physical security audits to assess physical and cyber security risks/threats. Act as a subject matter expert for the red team, its engagements and vulnerability risk assessments.
- Collaborate with other cyber security and digital risk teams to deliver full results. Develop and implement security standards, practices, and guidelines for various platforms and environments (eg, client server, distributed computing, mainframe, etc.).
- Use in-depth knowledge of technical and business requirements to propose remedial actions for vulnerabilities and security gaps identified during assessment. Uses judgement within broadly defined procedures and policies to select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to achieve results.

Qualifications
What is needed to succeed (minimum qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to this position. At least 9 years of relevant experience and at least 5 years of experience in IT security.
At least 5 years of experience performing vulnerability assessments, code reviews and penetration tests against web/mobile application technologies, services, platforms and languages to find bugs and exploits. People skills (empathy, maturity, communication up, down and across roles and responsibilities).
Willing to learn (here at United we have a lot of terminology and technology. You have to learn fast).
- Ability to work as a team (The Red Team is a team at its core. We work as a team. Some wolves may roam elsewhere). Problem solving skills (Our team has to think outside and inside the box. We have to look at problems from all angles, not just security). Experience penetration testing on mobile platforms.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship. Successful completion of the interview is necessary to meet the job qualification.
- Reliable and accurate attendance is an essential function of the position.
What will help you stand out from the pack (preferred qualifications):
Master’s degree
- Critical infrastructure and/or airline experience
- Development experience, especially in mobile programming
- Experience with Structured Query Language, Xcode, Objective-C, Java, .NET
- CISSP, OSCE, OSEP, OSCP, cRTO, OSWE, GXPN and/or GPEN
- Expert-level experience and detailed technical knowledge in at least five of the following areas:
- General information security
